This big decision wasn't rational
Two weeks ago I decided to work with a new coach, with an intention to deepen the way in which I embody life, business and the legacy I want to create.
It's only been two weeks but phewwwww, I've already welcomed in some major shifts!
I've worked with many different kinds of coaches and mentors over the last few years and often to make the decision of who I wanted to work with, I relied on my brain.
I would make the rational, logical choice.
This time? It was completely different.
I caught myself being rational, logical, linear and then tuned into something deeper…
… a knowing in my body. An intuition. A FEELING.
We are taught from a young age that "good decisions are logical”. That they make analytical sense. That they are backed by stats and numbers and pro/con lists.
Guess what? You can trust your intuition to make decisions too, even if you can't rationalize them.
I was trying to decide between two people to work with. Both women of colour. Both daughters of immigrants. Both badass entrepreneurs I deeply resonate with.
So how did I decide which coach to work with?
I used by Human Design authority as a Self Projected Projector
I noticed when my brain was telling me to play it small, safe, logical and rational
I chose to trust my intuition and my body's signals
Let me explore these further.
1. Using my Self Projected authority (how I best process information and make decisions, according to my Human Design / energetic blue print)
Since discovering Human Design, I've been really experimenting and leaning into my energetic way of being. Your authority is the best way in which you are meant to make decisions, and for me, it is all about listening to and feeling the excitement in my voice.
So to make this decision, I turned to two trusted sound boards (my partner and a friend). I asked them to let me talk my thoughts out loud, and to reflect back my mood in the process - not to give me advice, or their opinion on what I “should” do - just be a mirror for me, please.
And as I was recording some Instagram voice notes to a friend, I realized what my decision was. I heard it in my own voice. I felt the power to which I was speaking from.
2. Catching my brain telling me to play it small, safe, logical and rational
In the process of talking to my sound boards, I caught myself using just my brain.
I could rationalize, analyze and create a linear plan for one option while the other option felt more like a deep knowing.
A deep knowing in my body that I couldn't rationalize.
And I realized that my brain does this regularly. Although trying to keep me small, safe and comfortable, it doesn't allow me to grow.
3. Choosing to trust my intuition and body
I now work with the coach I could NOT rationalize.
I chose to trust the deeper knowing in my body and have faith that when I act from this place, amazing, beautiful, transformative, life changing things happen.
Looking back, my most transformative and life changing decisions weren't “rational”.
Like leaving my full time job to travel the world and accidentally becoming an entrepreneur.
It wasn't rational. There was no logic.
And I don't regret making that courageous, non logical choice. Ever.
The biggest shifts in life aren't often logical or rational. Sometimes they even seem ridiculous cause you can't explain them.
How do you make your best decisions?
“There is no inspiration in playing small, safe, logical and rational."
With so much love,
Victoria
ps. I make decisions this way, and so do my 1:1 coaching clients. They learn to make more embodied, intuitive decisions…
One of my clients quit their job as a doctor in week 2 of working together (it wasn't fulfilling them, although they were told it “should”)
Another client decided they didn't want to just “cope through life” and now lives with more clarity and confidence
Another client realized that they wanted to work with people 1:1 and then started signing private clients (although they'd thought groups was what what they “should” do)
The call is free and there are no expectations. It's an opportunity for us to have a conversation and for you to gain clarity where you're struggling right now.
I've been told that these calls are hugely beneficial for those who choose to be open to it. Decide for yourself if it's beneficial. Book a time here.
