Instead of getting rid of your emotions, try this

Uncomfortable emotions are not the enemy.

And if you feel scared, anxious, stressed, or have any uncomfortable strong emotions… congratulations, you are human!

Our job is not to get rid of these emotions from our lives.

Our job is to understand them.

To embrace them.

And ultimately, to accept and love ourselves even when (especially when) we are feeling uncomfortable.

Reclaim how you navigate rest

It's actually that society has conditioned us to think that rest is a bad, awful thing to do.

That rest is weak.

That we have to EARN our rest as a reward for something else (ie. I'll work hard Monday - Friday and rest on the weekend).

That we are unproductive if we rest (and our worth is linked to our productivity), so therefore resting makes us unworthy.

How to shift limiting beliefs

It's not that you lack confidence, courage or self worth.

It's that you grew up in a system that made you constantly have to prove yourself to other people than feel innately worthy as you are.

It's that since you were young, you were trained to seek the approval of others instead of approving yourself.

It's that society reinforces the idea that you should stay small, be quiet, and not cause trouble… so then owning your power feels unsafe.

Don't wait for someone else to tell you who you are

Believe it or not, I wasn't always comfortable or confident in myself.

Growing up as a first generation Canadian to Vietnamese refugees, and survivors of war, was both beautiful and complex.

Over the years as I delved deeper into building a relationship with myself, I started to bring awareness to how much of my behaviour and mindset had been conditioned to “always fit in”.
